About The Artist
Kateryna Maiboroda is an artist based in Lisbon, Portugal. She studied at Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, majoring in fashion design & illustration.
After moving to Portugal, Kateryna discovered the traditional art of Portuguese azulejo and fell in love with it. She decided to dedicate her arts to azulejo, with a concentration on creating tile murals and paintings.
Utilizing her background in fine arts, painting skills and the sense of the spirit of the time, Kateryna successfully combines the centuries-old arts technique with her unique modern interpretations. The results are beautiful azulejo panels, with intricate detail and bold colours, giving a personalized touch to the centuries-old tradition and technique.
The Technique of Creating Azulejo
The old technique used to create azulejo tiles has remained largely unchanged for centuries and is still done entirely by hand. The technique used to produce azulejo tiles is generally known as "glazing". The glazing process consists of painting the design on a white clay tile, firing the tile at high temperatures so that the paint becomes a vitreous enamel. This process results in a tile that is durable, waterproof and easy to clean, making it a stunning piece of art that can be enjoyed for years to come. What makes azulejo tiles so unique is their vibrant colours and intricate designs. Each tile is individually painted with great care and precision, resulting in a beautiful and eye-catching mosaic.It's a timeless piece of art that stood up against all kinds of weather, that's why it's perfect for both indoors and outdoors decoration.

HOW TO OWN | ORDER YOUR BESPOKE TILE PANEL
Once you have contacted us with your requirements, we will work with you to create a concept design for your tile mural or tiled panel. You can choose a design from our portfolio, or we can create a bespoke mural based on your ideas and requirements.The design process starts from the initial planning and sketching, followed by selecting tiles samples and colours, and then concluding with the final design of your hand-painted tile mural.
We work closely with our clients during the entire process and follow through to all brief requirements. We want our clients to be fully aware of how their project is progressing at every stage to ensure they are completely satisfied with the result. After our specialists are ready with the design, we will send the designs via email or post for the client's perusal and final approval.
Once we received the final approval, our team will work on the orders. Depending on the orders, the average dispatch time is within 28 days. Please remember, due to the nature of the materials and the hand-painted process, expect to see some minor imperfections and colour variations on the tiles. These little details will add to the characteristics of the tiles and their unique charms.
